Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced today that she will be visiting Odisha on March 23 to meet with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. In a press conference, she clarified that the meeting is a personal and courtesy one and not a part of any organized opposition.
While the meeting has been described as personal and courtesy, sources suggest that the possibility of an anti-BJP front, excluding the Congress, was discussed during her recent informal meeting with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Kolkata.
However, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has maintained that it has no common ground with Mamata's Trinamool Congress and the Samajwadi Party.
Mamata, who is a devotee of Lord Jagannath, will also offer prayers at the Srimandir during her visit. Despite the political speculation, BJD sources have reiterated that there will be no political discussions during Mamata's meeting with Naveen Patnaik.
